Aurora is set to receive a $2.28 million federal grant for an upgrade of its 911 emergency dispatch center.
City officials celebrated receipt of the money at this week’s City Council meeting on Tuesday night by recognizing public safety officials, and honoring U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, who was instrumental in getting the grant for the city through the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

NJSACOP, through its New Jersey Law Enforcement Communications Accreditation Commission, is the legitimate authority and accreditation agency in the state of New Jersey. The Morris County Communications Center must comply with NJSACOP standards in order to achieve accredited status.
“Verification that the Morris Communications Center meets the Commission’s ‘best practices’ standards is part of a voluntary process to achieve accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence,” said Emergency Communications Center Director Michael Peoples in announcing the assessment today.

NEW ORLEANS — Earlier this week a woman posted to the social media app, Nextdoor. She says her husband was having a heart attack and after calling 911 multiple times and ambulance never arrived. She says she and her son drove her husband to the hospital.
