Leesburg, VA (September 7, 2023) – Chief of Police Thea Pirnat and the proud members of the Leesburg Police Department, along with Mayor Kelly Burk and members of the Town Council, the Leesburg Town Government staff and representatives from Hoar Construction and Dewberry, broke ground today on a project that will bring a 14,500-square-foot addition and 21,000-square-foot renovation to the Leesburg Police Department Public Safety Facility located at 65 Plaza Street NE.

The emergency communication service serving the Sioux Falls area is undergoing a restructuring.
Metro Communications is the organization that handles 911 calls for Minnehaha County, including Sioux Falls. They coordinate emergency dispatch services with police, firefighters, and other emergency responders. The organization receives over 1,000 calls a day.

Delaware County’s 911 Center is one of the best in the nation, officially.
Delaware County Emergency Services Director Timothy Boyce announced that the county’s 911 Emergency Services Center had met all of the requirements and was officially designated as nationally certified by the Association of Public Safety Communications International’s Agency Training Program certification.

Pierce County residents can learn about the inner workings of their local 911 center through participation in the South Sound 911 Community Academy. The no-cost academy is scheduled from Oct. 3 to Nov. 7 and will host sessions on Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8 p.m., at South Sound 911.
