GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Cindy Casteel is a Registered Public Safety Leader and Dispatch Administrative Supervisor for the Grand Junction Regional Communications Center (GJRCC). She was awarded the NICE 2022 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Finest Line Supervisor of the Year.

Cindy has been part of the Calvert County Emergency Communications team for four years, most recently as a public safety dispatcher.

Richmond Community College announced it will be creating a 911 Telecommunications program that will provide a pathway for individuals who are interested in starting a career in this field, as well as providing skills enhancement for those already working as 911 telecommunicators.
The program will be unique to RichmondCC, as it is not currently offered anywhere else in North Carolina.
As expected, President Joe Biden on Friday signed the continuing resolution bill passed by Congress that averted a federal-government shutdown and extended the FCC’s authority to conduct spectrum auction until Dec. 16, potentially leaving an opportunity for next-generation 911 (NG911) funding to be attached to a lengthier extension.
