Effective immediately, the Winchester Emergency Communications Center will be using a new technology, Prepared Live, which allows 911 callers to share a livestream from their locations with the dispatch center and provide “eyes-on-scene” capability. The Winchester Police Department is proud that its Emergency Communications Center was one of the first to acquire this technology in Virginia.

Dispatchers at the Volusia County Communications Center handled nearly 12,000 calls as Tropical Storm Ian battered the area, flooding neighborhoods and trapping residents in their homes, officials said.
Emergency 9-1-1 call takers fielded 11,954 calls on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29, said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

On May 30 at around 4:45 a.m., 911 safety dispatcher Ann Marie Cafuentes had to rely completely on her training to help deliver a healthy baby girl. On Monday, Cafuentes met the family for the first time.
