FCC votes to launch NG911 proceeding to align wireline, wireless 911 requirements

FCC commissioners today voted unanimously to support a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would require all telecom service providers to deliver 911 calls in an IP format and would make those providers responsible for absorbing costs associated with doing so if no state or local funding alternative exists.

PERRY CITY COUNCIL APPROVED SEVERANCE PACKAGE OF PERRY POLICE DEPARTMENT DISPATCHERS (IA)

The Council approved a severance package for the four full-time Perry Police Department Dispatchers who will be laid off on June 30th. The package includes $5,000 for each dispatcher and an additional $1,000 for those employees that stay until the end of June.

Arlington County Emergency Communications Center Expands Call Capacity (VA)

The Arlington County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) will launch Amazon Connect to handle non-emergency calls starting June 1, 2023. This cloud-based service allows anyone to contact the County quickly and easily for non-emergency issues using the non-emergency line, 703-558-2222, freeing up 9-1-1 professionals to focus on emergencies.
