SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC/Gray News) – A dispatcher in Georgia is accused of ordering breakfast while answering a 911 call.
On Valentine’s Day, Dylan Johnson called 911 when he thought someone was breaking into his home.
When he finally made contact with a dispatcher, he says she was ordering breakfast.
“My wife called me while I was at work about 9:30 and said someone was snooping around the house, knocking on the doors and banging on windows and stuff,” said Johnson.
A group of public safety telecommunicators for Hennepin County discussed their response to a residential plane crash in Brooklyn Park.
“Our state has the best 911 professionals in the country,” said Governor Kelly Ayotte. “This new facility in Laconia will provide our dispatchers and emergency response personnel with state-of-the-art upgrades to help them continue their life-saving work. I was proud to be at the groundbreaking today, and I thank the hardworking men and women of New Hampshire 911 for the critical role they play in keeping us the safest state in the nation.”
A balanced relationship between work and life outside of the office is a career aspect most people desire. For police dispatchers and those training them, it is absolutely essential.
Cynthia Inmon, Victoria Police Department (VPD) telecommunications training coordinator, has been working for the department for almost 28 years. She began her career as a dispatch officer and has been training incoming dispatchers since 2000. What began as a job opportunity that seemed interesting has developed into a rewarding career.
