MERIDEN — The Emergency Communications Center continues to be understaffed, an issue that now has been ongoing for more than two years.
As of Tuesday the center, which handles all emergency police, fire and medical calls throughout the city, was staffed by six full-time dispatchers, along with three part-time dispatchers and four full-time trainees.
Those dispatchers have been supplemented by seven city firefighters and one police officer who assist in providing emergency dispatch duties.
