REDDING — The town’s emergency departments hope to have a new radio system up and running by the end of the month to enhance their communication with one another and eliminate safety risks.
Redding started the multi-year, multi-million-dollar improvement years ago when officials realized their current system was outdated and inhibited communication between emergency personnel departments.
We “couldn’t buy them, couldn’t fix them,” said Fire Commissioner Bennett Pardee, adding that “put us in a real spot.”
