BRANCH COUNTY — Local emergency responders and officials have not taken well to social media posts that claim 911 dispatchers “just answer the phone.”
Comments were posted as Branch County commissioners reopened negotiations regarding starting pay for dispatchers after a staffing crisis.
Only seven dispatchers fill the 11 spots necessary to provide 24-hour, seven-day-per-week coverage without excessive overtime and limited days off.
