The temperament of an individual calling 911 is important for dispatchers,  because the quicker they receive accurate information, the sooner help will arrive. 

At the St. Joseph Police Department, the dispatchers receive a variety of calls. Some are people speaking calmly, others are in hysterics. 

Rochelle Esparza, a lead operator, gives time for callers to breathe and calm down before she gets the information from them.
