Gatesville PD new system to improve medical and responsive training for EMS, dispatchers (TX)
The few minutes between life threatening emergency phone calls and the arrival of responders can be critical.
This is why Gatesville Police Department emergency dispatchers will be implementing a new system to better serve Gatesville and Coryell County residents.
The Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) has dispatchers follow nationally recognized standards and protocols that identify life-threatening situations and prioritize calls for response. The protocols will guide dispatchers through questions they will ask callers to identify problems quickly, and communicate to responders with accurate information to dispatch the correct help needed…
Watch Your Tech: Accidental 911 dials are on the rise (TX)
CARROLLTON, Texas — Technology is making it easier to call 911 for help in an emergency, but some experts say it’s also making it easier to dial the number by accident.
Operators at the North Texas Emergency Communications Center in Carrollton are picking up more 911 calls that end up being a dead air or a simple pocket dial.

Besides the fire and police departments, the new facility would house an emergency communications center, emergency management, the harbormaster, shellfish constable and the animal control officer…

Also this week, several federal organizations have decided to work together on digital-divide issues, while another group of federal agencies appears to be duplicating efforts that have been successful in the private sector, and NPSTC has announced this year’s awards. Then there is AT&T’s 5G in the cloud, and the Microsoft/AT&T agreement for the AT&T 5G core to be hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
FirstNet and International Public-Safety Broadband Systems
The FirstNet Authority, created by the same 2012 law as the FirstNet network, has been overseeing the FirstNet (Built with AT&T) build-out and has reinvested funds into the network for enhancements such as adding 5G capabilities to the FirstNet core and adding deployables to the fleet…
