Thank a dispatcher this week, Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (TN)

(TN Governor’s Office)  Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed the second full week of April (April 10-16) as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week across Tennessee.

During this week, the Governor and the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board (TECB) honor the men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to Tennessee citizens.

The people who answer a 911 call are the first responders in any incident, and lay the path for how well an emergency is handled.

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honoring those who answer emergency calls, dispatch emergency personnel and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to citizens across the nation. Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill, chairman of the Community Safety & Security Committee, presented a proclamation to Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti, Undersheriff Michael Dunn and Director of Emergency Communications Marc Kasprzak, in honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, celebrated April 10-16.

Regional Emergency Dispatch Center Celebrates National Telecommunicator Week (WA)

The Palouse’s regional emergency dispatch center is celebrating National Telecommunicator Week this week.

Whitcom reports that their dispatchers answered nearly 91,000 phone calls last year and entered nearly 65,000 calls for service and completed nearly 1,500 hundred hours of training.  In recent weeks dispatchers Carly Collings and Ashleigh Witt received a commendation from Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins for an April 5th call.  Chief Jenkins honored the dispatchers for providing an excellent flow of information during the incident.  17-year Whitcom dispatcher Jamie Keller received the first ever dispatcher of the year award from the American Legion…
