New Richmond 911 system aims to change call-taking, improve emergency response (VA)

A new system to improve emergency response will change the way Richmond callers provide information to 911 beginning this week.

The Richmond Department of Emergency Communications went live with the new protocol system at 10:00 AM on October 10th.

 

City of Cincinnati expands emergency alert system – (OH)

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A new emergency alert system is being used to notify Cincinnati residents if there is an active threat.

The expansion to the CincyAlert system will now send a message if there is an active situation of either potential or confirmed danger in a public place, Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long announced Monday.

Joanna Stern, a reporter for the Journal, said she was provided six recordings of iPhone crash-detection-triggered calls by the Warren County Communications Center. These calls were triggered by iPhones of people on rides at the Kings Island amusement park, outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Workers’ comp awarded to 911 dispatcher diagnosed with PTSD | (IA)

In a divided decision, the Supreme Court of Iowa reversed the ruling of the Scott County district court denying workers’ compensation benefits to a 911 dispatcher diagnosed with PTSD.

Cumberland County enters into regional effort to replace its aging 911 phone system (PA)

Cumberland County is now part of a regional effort to replace phone systems used for answering 911 calls.

The county commissioners recently approved a resolution to enter into an inter-governmental agreement with the South-Central Inter-County Communications Network or SCIC-Net, Director of Public Safety Bob Shively said Monday.
