Tompkins County public safety telecommunicator honored at state and national level (NY)

ITHACA, N.Y. – A member of the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response is honored.

Dispatch Supervisor in Tompkins County’s Emergency Communications Center Zachary Guidi was named the 2022 Dispatcher of the Year this week by the Association of Public Safety Communications Atlantic Chapter, a national award.

That’s why the Maui Police Department has launched new technology this week to help bridge that gap.

Ingham County is adopting a new translation service to help non-English speakers make emergency 911 calls.

  

“Nowhere is it probably more important than a 911 center where you really have to have someone immediately,” said District 5 Ingham County Commissioner Todd Tennis.
