BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Angst between the County Commission and the Sheriff’s Office over the regional emergency call dispatching center continues to mount as politicians plan to question the Sheriff’s Office about why the county lags in 911 technology.
It took her over 20 years to chase down her dream. But, in May, her day finally came when she became the first visually impaired person to work as a dispatcher in Central New Mexico Community College’s security department.
TOULON – Stark County’s days as the last remaining Illinois county without enhanced 911 service are numbered.
Thanks to a partnership with Peoria County and a $2.4 million state grant, officials now expect to provide that service by early 2024 in a new state-of-the-art emergency communications center to be constructed as an annex to the existing Stark County Sheriff’s Department in the heart of downtown Toulon.
MERIDEN — The Emergency Communications Center continues to be understaffed, an issue that now has been ongoing for more than two years.
As of Tuesday the center, which handles all emergency police, fire and medical calls throughout the city, was staffed by six full-time dispatchers, along with three part-time dispatchers and four full-time trainees.
Those dispatchers have been supplemented by seven city firefighters and one police officer who assist in providing emergency dispatch duties.
