ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. —

On March 28, 2018, Hardin County dispatcher Kendra Murphy took a call, but only heard static.

She was about to disconnect, but something told her to stay on the line. She said she heard two people talking and something about a gun.

Eventually, Murphy remembered, the caller got on the phone.

In the 911 call, the woman was heard saying, “It’s my uncle. He lives next door to me. He just told me he shot his wife in the garage, and he’s going now to John Hardin (High School) to pick up his son.”
