Macomb County’s flashy, modern communications center was plagued over the past three months by air and odor issues that sickened dispatchers and forced the transfer of the operation to Warren for weeks at a time.
About 15 to 18 dispatchers at the Communications and Technology Center on Groesbeck Highway in Mount Clemens sought medical treatment at different intervals after getting sick due an unknown air issue that appeared to be related to a roof-replacement project, according to officials and Mount Clemens ambulance reports. Some dispatchers reported respiratory problems, headaches and feeling feint.
