The Richland County Commissioners gave their OK Thursday for maintenance director Chuck Minich and the sheriff’s office to proceed with plans for remodeling 4,300 square feet of space at the People’s Center to provide more room for the 9-1-1 dispatch center and to move road patrol operations next to 9-1-1.

The board decided to proceed with the work after trimming $150,000 from the original $924,781 estimated cost by delaying a portion of the project that would create an emergency operations center for the county Emergency Management Agency.
