Dialing 911 is the first step in getting help during an emergency situation. But what are 911 dispatchers doing on the other end of the line to coordinate the emergency response?

That’s what one Cedar Rapids resident wanted to know when they wrote to Curious Iowa, a Gazette series that answers readers’ questions about our state and how it works.
