Hamilton County is one of Tennessee’s largest and busiest counties, yet the men and women who answer our 911 calls are paid less than many dispatchers working for significantly smaller agencies in the region.
911 dispatchers are the first first responders. They are the calm voice on the other end of the line during someone’s worst moment, coordinating police, fire and EMS responses while providing lifesaving instructions before help arrives. Despite the critical role they play in public safety, Hamilton County’s dispatchers continue to fall behind their peers in compensation.
